***An easy fix I hope ?***

Hello all I hope someone can help me out here. First off to start bare with me as I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer. An my computer skills are limited lol sad but true.


I have DVDFab 6.2.1.8 Lately the last few DVD's I have copyed have taken a long time to start it seems to frezze on the warning screen and alot of times dureing the movie it will freeze lots of hiccups it's been really bad. This happens on both my DVD player and my xbox 360. Can someone help me out plz thanks in advance and plz keep your replys simple thanks in advanced !

Try installing the latest beta you will find it here
Also your logs would be helpful too The default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log.

Please just copy and paste the log(s) and post right here.

Hi Nyrico,

We 'll need to look at the burn log...that portion where the burn process actually took place.
Don't try to copy the whole thing.
Just copy and paste a relevant portion of one burn

I use Img as my default burn engine and I recommend that you do the same, but for now please post a burn log .
Here's an idea of what we need.

First, the media you're using. Ritek is, at best, middlin' - and not the best media for video work. For S/L discs, we usually recommend Taiyo Yuden, and for D/L discs, Verbatim.

Secondly, your drives are running in PIO mode - the SLOWEST - go to Common Settings > General, and down at the bottom is a box to re-set DMA. Please click there and re-start Fab. Your speed should be back to normal for rips and writes.

Changing media will get rid of the freezes and other problems you were seeing on the burned discs.

Ok I figured out what you meant, I believe you were talking about the Dvd's I'm using right ? I'm useing TDK so I should use better dvd's ? Is there away to verifiy that I am now running at a faster speed ?

You guys are great, But I have to ask rather than predend that I understood the highlighted part above ....... ok you got me I have no clue what Taiyo Yunen is or Ritek I am a complete newbie. So if it's not to much to ask can you hold my hand and explain to me like a 5 year old lol please !!!

Taiyo Yunen & Ritek are brands of blank DVD's. You are using Ritek which is generally regarded on this forum as CRAP.

I'll leave the other guys give you links to where you can buy them (mainly on-line) or also Verbatim for douuble layer disks.

I just tried what you requested, I went and re-set the DMA and then tried to burn a different DVD just to see if I did it right I'm guessing I didn't cause this is what the log looks like. I know that I am still useing the same Disk but I don't have any others right now would that make a differance ?

When I did what you asked my pc rebooted but it looks like no change.

You're still in PIO mode.
Go into device manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > Secondary IDE channel > Advanced Settings > select DMA

You might be better off to go into device manager
and uninstall your burners.
Reboot and windoz will reinstall the appropriate drivers.

This will open a registry patch (.VBS Script file).
Run the patch.

Here's a guide with screenshots.
This should be pretty basic, but you can always just run the .VBS Script file I linked above.
It'll patch the registry for you.
If you're unfamiliar with editing the registry manually, I would not try it...just run the patch.

Anyway, here's the guide.
