I have been looking for a copy of the same edition you have to try to duplicate the problem.

Just adding also you don't need to run Passkey with DVDFab but only in certain situations when you need to troubleshoot a problem otherwise it may cause problems.

Thank you so much for all your help! Funny how you mentioned a bootleg. Sadly this probably would have been so much easier if I had a bootleg copy.

Luckily these are movies I know I'm going to watch more than once.
Yes the info logs now show CSS protection as being removed so the logs you posted first must have been with Passkey running. I will play around with my version to see what is needed to be done. Will post results when I finished

Thanks, I know I don't have that set (2008) but have some of the older original single discs somewhere.

May be these ones as well

Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope

Star Wars: Episode V: Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Just have to wait till chefelf says which one they have. The post with single link is basically the same DVD as the ones in the links in this post but was released when they released the final 3 movies to the series

To answer AGJ, those look like the exact ones that I have but they say 2006 on the Best Buy site. I got mine in 2004 (September, if memory serves me correctly).

Okay, I installed 8.0.5.6. Then I tried every possible permutation of selections with the subtitle options. I found that the following settings worked perfectly when testing chapter 22. The subtitles were showing up but only when Greedo talked.

I was really happy so I selected all of Title 3, set it up for 2-pass and ripped the whole movie. Then, much to my surprise, the entire movie had no audio. The subtitles worked perfectly though.

Also, I had some problems playing back in VLC. Lots of freezing, etc. Windows Media Player seemed to play it fine but both had the problem of no audio.

Thanks again for all of your help with this! You are all really dedicated to finding a reason for my crazy problems.

The freezing is a bug with the avi container, it's also present in the avi.h264.audiocopy profile (I've tested) and I got the same results of no sound with vlc and wmp refuses to even play the file. The devs are aware and hopefully a fix will be out soon.

Ahh. Well, I guess I'll hang tight and wait for the bug fixes. The fact that I've solved the subtitle problem makes me happy enough.

Thanks again for your help in working this out!

Apologies for hijacking, was going to post my own problem, appears to be similar.

Converting DVD collection to mp4 for NAS then play to PS3 using PS3 Media Server.

So far I have found that using the Ripper to mp4, then change the profile to PS3 gives better results, + subtitles are in separate file.

Today I tried Star Wars Attack of the Clones, started with english normal no captions, if you selected the subtitles on the PS3 they displayed permanently then tried english forced....nothing, subtitle file was created but set to 0Kb.

So this is a bug fix then?

Must say tho, have been using DVDFAB since v5 and haven't found anything to match it..

Sorry to bump this but I just downloaded the latest version of DVDFab 8.0.6.1 and I looked in the notes and it doesn't seem there's a fix for the AVI container issue. Is it possible to downgrade to a past version until this is fixed? I looked on the site and didn't see any past versions available for download.

                            Thanks again for your help!

Oops! Just tried it because I was curious and it seems that 8.0.6.1 has fixed the AVI issue. It just wasn't listed in the version history.

                                Thanks again!
