conversion hangs/freezes

Had the same issue with the very latest version 8.1.6.3 QT trying a Rip to MP4 from a DVD copy on my hard disk from DVDFab.
Pointing at the film folder it kept stopping at around 28%, watching in Task Manager/Performance you can see a fully maxed out set of processsor cores just drop down to 0 !!

Anyway, pointed the source location at the VIDEO Flder within the overall film name folder and it then ran ok !

I'm having similar problems. If I use the later 8QT versions, the ripper hangs. The older 8085 version doesn't hang. However I'm also having the audio out of sync in the 8085 version. If there's one version or settings that works for everything, I'd like to know. For now, I'm running both versions. I try the latest version first. If it hangs, then I go back to the older version and hope the audio isn't an issue.

Not all movies hang with the 8.1.6.3 version, in fact I've only had a couple that had the timing issue that causes this. Always try the most up to date version first. I rip to the HDD compressed first and then to the mobile device and haven't seen the sync issue in a long time on SD DVDs.

I've started to have the same issue and I can no longer get any rip to complete. I've tried resetting all my setting and doing a rip without success. I also loaded the lastest Beta Version with no success. Here's the log from my latest try on a disc I previously ripped without trouble wiht another version:

I downloaded 8.1.7.0 and got a little lazy and installed it over the top of 8.1.6.8 and had all manner of problems. I finally did a complete clean uninstall. Ran ccleaner until it found nothing in the registry, went to C:\Windows\Prefetch and deleted all files that start with Dvdfab
Then reinstalled and now everything works fine.

Okay, I did as you suggested. The first rip completed 97% and the second 13% before freezing. I then tried a tv episode and was able to get one to complete. I then tried to do all 8 from one disc and was able to get through 4 and it froze on the 5th. Trying to do the three remain and I can see its about to freeze at 60% through the first one. I can post the logs here, but there really long?

One other thing I've come up with experimenting last night and today. I ripped The Kings Speech to the HDD compressed to DVD-5 and used the folder for the source, the CPU cycled from 20% to 100% until it dropped to Ø% and hung there. I ripped it again to the HDD as DVD-9 uncompressed and the process completed fine the CPU stayed 99-100% the whole time. I don't have a clue why this should work but it did two different movies.

Yes I don't understand all of that, but I'm ripping these for Apple TV and there 20 min shows. I've been able to get all but two show from one disc. The same two shows keep freezing. This all started in the last update. Before that I would only occasionly have this problem. How can I get a release from the beginning of the year?

8.0.8.5 was the last non-QT version and that might be a good bet.

Update:
Version 8085 works perfect with a missed rip now for days. Then I came across The Three Musketeers and it would not work. Switched to 8170 and it worked flawless. So we'll continue to use the non-Qt version for olders movies and tv shows and use the lastest QT version for new movies. Thank you for the help 90312.
