i just downloaded this software last night to rip a DVD onto my hard drive. i was then going to convert it to AVI with another program. i set it to have good resolution, not the best, but good. just beyond 3 hours later, it finished the first pass, so i just cancelled it since i set it to 2 pass. this morning i tried doing a different DVD straight to mp4 with only 1 pass. i set it to a 1.5GB file size. it went for 2 hours, then started on a second pass...?? what gives? first, it shouldnt be doing a second pass. and second, why in God's name is it taking so long? DVDshrink takes like 30-45 min...

What do you need help with DVDFab or the other program that can not be named as you said you use another program to convert to avi. Well if you not use DVDFab for that we can not help you. If you are using DVDFab for that then could you read the and post the relevant info to this thread of yours -
its DVDfab thats the problem. still ripping to HD with 3+ hours and counting. Also, im pretty new to this whole thing, so i really dont know a lot of the terminology yet.Originally posted by AGJ View Post

i also tried Handbreak, and that was running extremely slow too. however, DVDshrink (which is what ive used for years) works much much quicker.

If as you say you are using this software to rip the movie to the hard drive and going to convert it to AVI with something else, your post makes no sense. There are no 1 or 2 pass options with the DVD to DVD, which is the option you would be using to do what you describe. You can rip the movie to the hard drive as a VIDEO_TS folder in about 18 minutes for a DL original, less than that for a SL. You can use DVD to Mobile to make the AVI directly from the DVD, but it often works better if you use the ripped VIDEO_TS folder as the Source to make the AVI conversion.

What GregiBoy is trying to tell you is, make a folder on your c:drive or what ever drive you have and name it say, "movies" start DVD Fab click DVD to DVD main movie or full disc whatever option you want, put in your movie you want to rip your source will be the movie and your target will be c:drive movie folder let us know how this works.Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

Well if you are ripping the DVD to computer then it should take about as long as signals said probably longer with that slow computer of yours. As for 3+ hours well if you are ripping to the hard drive as AVI then that is how long it takes with that slow computer of yours. Anyway go into common settings-general and click the reset DMA button and then try again. We still need better information that is not confusing from you to help you any furtherComment

Big Ry I suggest you read the DVDFab Tutorial here is link especially the part for Settings as that is the common settings I mentioned. Now as for Converting to AVI it does not take 20 minutes to do that it takes anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours to do that depending on the computer and it can take even longer as well. Also the only way any one on the forum can get you fixed quick is if you did and posted what was asked as none of us want to ask 20 questions just for one answer and then ask another 20 questions for another answer. This is the DVDFab forum so can not help with the other program you mentionedComment
