BD Ripper (3D Plus) BR Ripper will not encode video when audio passthrough enabled

I'm having a problem with Blu-Ray Ripper when attempting to encode to MKV where video is compressed to H.264 (or H.265) and the audio is set to COPY (HD audio - DTSHD/Dolby TrueHD). Ripper will not create the files and will stay at 0% and encoding framerate during progress is 0.

It has worked rarely but I cannot determine what triggers it.

I've attempted this on probably 50 different Blu-Rays of various types (different audio, different formats - iso/folder) with the same results.

Is this an unpublished limitation of DVDFab or is there a special trick I am missing? I really want to rip my Blu-Rays to MKV with compressed video but native HD audio.

    Thanks!

      Thanks!
This is how I rip all my Blurays and I've never seen this problem. Like the other poster said, post your logfiles and maybe someone can help.

        Here you go:
Note that when this problem occurs the job will run indefinitely until cancelled so there's no actual error that I can see, just a job cancelled at the end.

If I run pass-through it works fine.

        Thanks!

If you are using a virtual drive to mount the ISO for processing, unmount it and load the source file into DVDFab using the "+" Add button in the upper left. In the future, please follow the instructions in my sig for supplying logs. When pasted into the text window, there are size and formatting limitations, and the log must be converted to a text file for distribution to the appropriate developers (slows your response).

I almost always use the add button to load ISO's into DVDFab. In the case above I dragged-dropped the ISO into DVDFab, would that create an issue?

Do you need me to re-upload logs? Any feedback at this point on the issue itself?

            Thanks in advance.

              Same Issue

I too am having the same issue ever since updating to 9.2.2.6. I have always done the same where I start the program, let the program read the disk automatically, and then try to encode to MKV. It has always worked until now and just stays at 0% and Time Left is always at 00:00:00

              Code:
               0m 00.01s:

DVDFab team, any response to this? This is core functionality.

cant speak for the DVDfab team, but...

i ripped two disks to mkv with audio passthru today without a problem, so it's probably limited to either certain disks or hardware configs. What GPU and device driver are you using?

I can't duplicate the problem either. First advice is always to disable all GPU functions in DVDFab Common Settings and try again.

I have this problem consistently on two different systems with different GPUs and OS versions. On one system it has had this issue in Windows 8 and 10. The other is Server 2012 R2 with Dual XEON 5760 cpus.

I will try with GPU hardware disabled specifically (I always only have software selected for all options but didn't try ticking the overall control).

                      Will report back.

Well specifically checking the "disable GPU encoding..." (or whatever the exact name is) seems to have done the trick! It is a bit confusing though that when all of the options are 'software only" one would assume that that means no GPU encoding is enabled... but anyway that worked!

I do have an issue with some movies not encoding at all (which appears to be another issue) but when this happens in a large job queue you can lose hours of time overnight. It would be nice if there was a timeout option that if no encoding occurs within some number of minutes (no writes to disc, etc) that the job item can auto cancel and move to the next. This would assure that the entire job queue doesn't just stop if a single item won't encode.
