    @GregiBoy
I tried this profile, got no sync issues on VLC. The only change I made was to change 'profile name=' to 'SamsungA867 (3gp)'.

@Toonces, sorry this is still a problem. If you have some time to kill, try this: in DVDFab Common Settings->DVD/Blu-ray->Write, change the DVD5 size setting to something slightly smaller than the reported file size of the main title in Streets of Fire. A good number would be about 95% of whatever DVDFab reports as the title's size. The idea here is to force the transcoder to run, which will partially decode and re-encode the video stream. Run the conversion again from the VIDEO_TS folder that the above procedure will produce. Would be very interested in the results.

I will try that out...I have made one additional discovery that may be useful. On 13th Warrior, Aliens: SE, and Streets of Fire, after I create the mpeg file with DVDMF4, they all report the time incorrectly in Media Player Classic...All of the DVDs that work directly in Fab for me show the correct time...Mean anything?

Sounds like unusual or non-DVD-Video compliant muxing on the originals. VOB Passthrough in DVDFab will make the MPEGs for you also (just change the file suffix).

It certainly sounds like non-compliant authoring or content on these DVD's.

Just tried Aliens:SE (R4) with the generic profiles that I use. No problems at all.

PS: I use ULead Video Studio to re-author DVD's that I have problems with.

FYI: Quite a lot of older music DVD's produced in the early 90's fall in this category.

sorry for reply this thread so late, I know current sync logic still have some problem for some special DVD.

if some source cause sync problem, please bold it in your post, so I can find it more easyable, like this R1: That Was Then...This Is Now,

I will try to find this disk and test it.

            thanks

Have you had time to try what I suggested in post #16?

Yes I did, but had mostly the same results.

I'm working with the h.264 codec going to an MP4 instead of a 3GP file now and having much better results. The audio is still out of sync...it follows the video...but now by a fraction of a second at the end of a film rather than the 2 to 3 seconds it was off before. I'm trying different framerates right now.

Glad the results have improved, see Ting's post for a ray of hope.

                    Both are R1

Had problems with both AVI and Xbox 360 (WMV)...

                      ting,

Here are the problem titles I've encountered:

                      1. Aliens: SE R1 (This is the extended cut from the Alien Quadrilogy set.) It is a "threaded disc" as it contains both the theatrical cut and the extended director's cut.

                      2. The 13th Warrior R1 (This is the only R1 edition still in print.) It is a multi-angle title as it contains two cuts of the films: one with English credits and another with French credits.

                      3. Streets of Fire R1 (This is the only R1 edition still in print.) This is a straight-up DVD5 title with nothing special about it.

                      4. That was Then...This is Now R1 (Unfortunately, this is now out of print.) This is also a straight-up DVD5 title with nothing special about it.

I hope this is of some help to you!

                        This may be of help...

                        ting,

For what it's worth, I've found an open source program that seems to have overcome all of the problems with all of the "special case" DVD titles. As it is open source, I can't imagine there would be any problem if you took a look at it. Here's the link:

                        http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

I'm doing the conversions using a Fab rip of the original DVD saved to the HDD. I created my own profile for my Samsung phone using the h264 and AAC codecs to create an MP4 output file...It's very similar to the Fab Profile editor, but you just set things up in the GUI and then "add" a new preset and it shows up in the list.

The only problem I've found is that it has no volume control, but I'm just bumping the aac track with MP3Gain + ACCGain and it seems to work fine.

The main thing about the HandBrake program is that it correctly recognizes the time info on the DVD rip and then maintains perfect audio/video sync throughout the file...Whatever they're doing has completely whipped the A/V sync problem I've been having.

I hope this is helpful to to you!

Handbrake may work in this case but is not a universal cure. I have seen many posts from its users about sync issues. Some audio problems have been corrected with the 6.0.7.0 release, try that.

I encoded "The Emperor's New Groove" for my wife using DVDFab the other day and had sync issues. It was a split second off and got worse as the video progressed. I encoded the same disc with Handbrake and the encode went off without a hitch. No sync issues. I wonder what Handbrake does different to counter this sync issue.

Some additional information. I created a disc image to speed the encoding process so both programs used the same disc image. The encode was done on a HP laptop with a 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor and 4 gigs of RAM. Regular compliment of background processes. DVD is a region 1 (US) disc.

Look forward to the next version of DVD to Mobile as I know Ting will figure this one out.

                              That was my point...

That was my point in posting the info. I looked in the HandBrake forums also and most of the problems seem to be AVI related...I rarely ever work with an AVI that doesn't want to get out of sync...

Every DVD, and DVD image, however, that I've thrown at HB syncs up perfectly. I thought ting might find a clue in the source code...which is fully downloadable at the link I provided.

I would just much prefer to be able to do everything with Fab...
