    Hi Potti,
Fabstreamer? Isnʻt that the Blu-ray player software? It was not running in activity monitor. OK, I launch Blu-ray Player and it prompts me to update so I do update and now DVDFab Blu-ray copy is reading Blu-ray discs again even after restarting the computer. I hope it lasts.
For what itʻs worth, I looked at the dvdfab_internal.log In every event where DVDFab would not scan the drive the log has a line that says "service name:IODVDServices". In every event where DVDFab did scan the drive successfully, the line says "service name: IOBDServices.

    Thanks!

I turn on the computer this morning and DVDFab will not try to read a Blu-ray again. Close DVDFab and it crashes just like before. I look at dvdfab_internal.log and the last line once again reads "service name: IODVDServices" (should be "service name: IOBDServices".
So, I think itʻs expecting a disc in the internal DVD drive. I put a DVD into the internal drive and relaunch DVDFab and now it scans the Blu-ray disc in the external drive again and works normally.

I hope this helps to diagnose.

I had the same thing, except it won't see my bluray drive after installing the new version. I tried to quit and restart the app, several times, without success (it also gives a crash when the app was quit.)

I did not find any fabapp running under the activity monitor when I looked.

I reboot, and now it magically sees the bluray drive.

I get the ISDVDServices after the install, when I rebooted, I got the proper ISBDservices.

I have had detection problems for several versions now, hopefully this will help narrow the root cause of the issue.

Here is my logs from the failed run after first install, and the run after a reboot that worked:

          More Info

Just to add to the confusion, I tried several times to get the disc to read out of my bluray drive today, including restarts.

I will post the log below, but the key is that my letter for the bluray/dvd drive changed, from A to D to H. (When I rebooted and it was H it worked.) Between the last failed time and the sucessful read, I shut down and removed a USB flash drive I had in my system.

My thought: Is is possible the DVDfab is getting confused due to the large number of real and virtual hard drives on my system (I normally run 1 internal DVD drive, 1 bluray USB drive, and 1 internal hard drives, and 5 USB hard drives.)

            Mac Mountain Lion problems

I've had exactly the same issues and their technical support person seems totally clueless. I'm guessing that they haven't tested with this OS.

Anyone else having the hang issues after dismissing the Cinavia protection pop-up?

            Cheers.

Yes, since the last two issues. I made a thread on it, but no follow up so far to fix the issue.

                8.2.1.3 still broke for me!

Going on three months now since installing 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Still no acknowledgment from the developer that the problem even exists, much less being worked on.

The good news is that the software has been updated to support "Hunger Games" and "Cabin in the Woods". That would be a nice improvement if DVDFab would even try to read or recognize a blu-ray disc in the drive.

A simple update on the status of this problem would surely be appreciated.

Same issues with this release, sometimes it detects my drive, other times it does not.

One thing that helps me is to shutdown and reboot before using dvdfab, but even then it is somewhat iffy.

Here is a theory about what is going on. I hope the developers will correct me if this is not correct. (And we would know that they are actively working on fixing the issue.)

Best I can tell they are running some kind of emulation vs making this a native mac app, that would explain the "drive letters" referenced in the log file. This is probably why only bulit-in and USB drives are supported, and not firewire bluray drives.

While using emulation has the advantage of making it very easy to keep the app updated with the pc version, it looks like the way they assign drives for this program to use is extremely bug ridden. When the app fails to assign the correct drive, or fails to assign any drives at all, we are getting these errors. That is why the system sees the disc in the drive and displays it in the finder desktop, but dvdfab does not.

Here is the logs, again. The first one is right after installing, it did not read the disc, the other is running the app after a reboot which was successful. In both cases it was the same bluray USB drive, with the same DVD-R disc inside.

Drive "h" loaded the IODVDservices, did not work, after the reboot is loaded IODBservices.

My best guess is that DVDFAB detected my internal DVD drive on the first run, and after the reboot detected the USB bluray drive instead.

Next step I turned on a DVDRW drive, put the exact same disc in, and started DVDFAB. It failed to detect the dvd in the drive.

Looking at the log files, this time it loaded the I drive, but it loaded the IOBDservices instead of the proper IODVDsevices, as this is an USB DVD external DVDRW drive and NOT a bluray drive.

8.2.1.4 beta still hasnʻt fixed the problem!

Same for me, sometimes it detects my bluray drive correctly using the IOBDservices and everything works, other times it loads IODVDservices and it won't read, crashes on exit then. Very frustrating to say the least.

Could we at least get an acknowledgment that the issue has been reproduced on DVDFAB's mac computers, and is being investigated?

EDIT: Normally I can reboot and get the program working again, but I have tried 3 reboots, with no help. I had to resort to using a competing product to get my latest BluRay onto my hard drive.

Mmm... I just forked out $240 for the DVDFab suite yesterday only to find it does not work.

Same issues as others - have Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and DVDFab 8.2.1.5 and will not recognise bluray's in external player despite the fact that I can watch it no worries with Macblurayplayer.

Just to add one more thing, I am able to use my internal DVD reader when it loads IODVDservices, but my bluray drive will not work. My best guess is that dvdfab simply does not detect the bluray drive and defaulted to the internal dvd drive. It those cases (on previous versions) where it properly detected my USB bluray drive, it loaded the iobdservices, and worked fine.

Oh, and despite multiple reboots, I can't get the bluray drive to work at all with this version (8.2.1.5). I have had to switch to makemkv for the time being until this issue is resolved, it does not have the drive detection issues of DVDFAB.
