    Trouble Backing Full Movie

An AnyDVD user looking for an alternative. I have tried ripping several movies to hard drive using Passkey, then trying to back them up an DVD. I can never backup full movie. I have CloneDVD and DVDReBuilder which has never given me any problems. The movies are not new releases, just a couple I tried to see how Passkey would work. Both programs, when trying to backup full movie, gives me a Trying to repair defective DVD structure error. However I can back up the main movie only with no problems. Hope there is a solution. I E-Mailed support a few days ago but have not heard anything so thought I would try here. Thanks.

I know that I am new to this forum but could someone explain how you get help? I have E-Mailed support 3 days ago, posted here and nothing so far. I have searched through some former post and found that this was a problem with CloneDVD 6 years ago, and said that a future release would fix it. Could someone point me in the direction I need to go to get someone to answer my problem before the trial period runs out?

Maybe someone will respond eventually. Have updated to version 8.2.6.9. Ripped an older movie, Avengers Age Of Ultron to hard drive. Tried to clone movie with CloneDVD. CloneDVD gave a message saying "Trying to repair defective DVD structure" took for ever and then said it could not complete process. Tried to backup main movie only and had no problem. Tried same rip with DVDRebuilder, backing up full movie. Error stating after processing that VTS_01_0.VOB file was not present. However it will backup the main movie only.

        using Passkey

I have & use Passkey & it has been terrific for me. I use it mostly to back up Blu-rays. But I am game to try to assist you if possible.
It sounds like you are trying to use it to back up DVDs (ie. source is a DVD)? If yes - what other titles have you had trouble with besides Age Of Ultron that I might test (I have the blu-ray Age of Ultron title and it did not come with a DVD).

There's something wrong with Passkey and DVD menus. I tried The Force Awakens with the same software and had the same results as HBOY01. DVDFab copied the full disc fine.
How to post the internal log

I seem to recall DVDFab updates being made for some newer DVDs - so maybe they forgot to update Passkey for those DVD issues also?

Thanks guys for the help. As 90312 stated I think it is the menus. Basically any DVD will be problematic if you try to backup full movie.I just tried The Forrest, trying to clone the full movie gave me the error but was able to backup main movie with no problem. I dont even have to rip the movie to hard drive to get the error. I can put the DVD in, let Passkey run in the background, then open CloneDVD and try to copy that way and it says defective file structure. Thanks again.

I even tried to rip it to the HDD with Passkey and got read error failure. Just wait on an update I suppose.

I just ripped my Mockingjay 2 DVD to hard disc using Passkey as a test - it ripped fine - it plays fine in Media Player.
Roxio's Cineplayer plays it just fine.

DVDShrink refuses to open it, however (doesn't like the Video_TS.vob).

PGCEdit throws this warning when opening the ripped DVD:
*** Dialogue title: "PgcEdit: Read DVD"
                  *** Dialogue type: warning
                  *** Dialogue message:
Warning: the table VMGM_C_ADT of the VMG has a wrong end byte address!
Value in IFO: 31, computed value: 43.
Please save the DVD to fix it!
*** Dialogue buttons: [OK to all] [OK]

                  It also throws this warning:
*** Dialogue title: "PgcEdit: Read DVD"
                  *** Dialogue type: error
                  *** Dialogue message:
                  WARNING:
The number of VTSs stored in VIDEO_TS.IFO (14)
doesn't match the real number of Title Sets stored on disk (16).
Since all files related to VTS 15-16 are unreferenced,
it is necessary to remove them from the compilation.
If you really need this Title Set, try to import it with one
of the "Import title clip" or the "Import VTS Titles" and
                  "Import Menu" functions.
Move all unreferenced VTS to the special backup folder
                  "PgcEdit_backup_unreferenced_VTS"? (Recommended!)
                  *** Dialogue buttons: [Yes] [No]

PGCEdit continues throwing errors as it scans various entries and finds actual files different from table indications.

DVDRB seems to have processed it in full disc mode just fine.

Have you tried burning it to disc? It seemed like DVDRebuilder worked until I tried to burn it, then I got the error VTS_01_0.VOB is not present.

Thanks. Using Nero Burning Rom I also get the DVD-Video Files Reallocation Failed. Thanks again.

I didn't - and I have since deleted the output directory - but I had opened up the output directory & played some of it on the computer - it seemed to play fine. The main movie video files looked fewer than the source (it should not have transcoded anything to reduce size based on my settings) - but it played (just sampled various chapters and spots in it). I suppose there may still be problems lurking inside those vobs.

Here is what may be another clue: if you open up the Mockingjay Part 2 DVD in DVD DeCryptor - it shows 4 copies of the main feature on the disc (vts 1, 14, 15 & 16 series of vobs). That makes me think this disc has the old corrupted VTOC trick trying to confound programs. I believe DVDFab handles this disc just fine after a fairly recent update.

If I launch Passkey, and examine the source DVD, Passkey screens out 3 of the 4 main movies (shows those vobs as 2kb each) & indicates the vts_14 series as the movie.

Ripped The Forest to hard drive using DVDRebuilder. Tried burning with Nero Burning Rom and received this. Tried to insert image, hope it worked.
