    Tivo conversions

I am having problems with Converter.

I transfer shows from my Tivo Premier (mpg) to my desktop.

I then run Converter to convert to Apple TV 3 files. About 50% of the shows fail to convert. When I attempt to try again on the file, it's hit or miss if it converts.

Conversions using Toast on the Mac work fine, as does Handbrake.

Any ideas what is causing the shows to fail?

Dead End Express is the show that failed in this log.

Are the Tivo files really 60 fps, non-interlaced? There may be some issue with the audio stream also, Fab does not seem to be comfortable with it. Do all the ones that fail show the same things in the log?

Yes, to the best of my knowledge.

I use kmttg to download the .Tivo file from the Tivo device. Then kmttg will remove whatever "drm" that is in the file and give me a normal MPG file.

It doesn't happen ALL the time. Sometimes when I convert 1 file it will fail. I rerun the conversion on that same file and it will work. Sometimes it can take 3-4 tries before it will work. When it fails, I fall back to Handbrake, but that takes 8 times as long to do the conversion.

Very odd that the conversions work and fail for the same Source file at different times. Is your internet connection robust enough to upload one of the source files that has shown this pattern? If yes, I will send you information on this privately. To be clear, this should be one of the drm-scrubbed files that took several tries to convert in Fab.

Yes. The files are anywhere from 1GB to 4GB. I don't have the original source at the moment as once the conversion from MPG->MP4 is complete, I delete the MPG file.
