    4K Disc

    Hello all.

I am new to the product of DVDFab. I mainly got DVDFab 10 (x64) to convert some media files (.mkv to .mp4, etc.).

However, I see that it can also rip UHD 4K discs; so, I thought I would give it a shot.

I have a 4K drive in my computer, a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-211M. So, I thought I'd see if this DVDFab software could rip a 4K disc I have so I could put its contents on my solid state drive (the movie Batman vs Superman).

However, after launching the software and putting the movie disc in the Pioneer drive, I run into an error message.

The software seems like it's starting to work, as I see it loading the 4K disc (I see the title's name come up of Batman vs Superman), like it's trying to read the disc, but then this message shows up:

"DVDFAb could not found a matching entry in the free keys file for the inserted disc." And I think there was a grammatical error there; I believe the beginning of the sentence was supposed to be, "
    DVDFAb could not find a....".

Anyway, anybody know what this means? Does this have to do with DRM? That this 4K disc is too tightly encrypted to rip?

And one more thing while I'm here.

I see that DVDFab has a Media Player 5 out. This program claims to be able to play 4K discs, and, you can use a discrete graphics card to do this. I currently have PowerDVD to play 4K discs, however, with that software program, there's a caveat: You have to use the on-board Intel graphics embedded in the motherboard. I have an EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 SC graphics card, whose graphics are far superior to Intel's.

So, any help with my ripping error message with the 4K disc of Batman vs Superman?

And any info or insight into Media Player 5?

    Thanks in advance,
    Pez

    Pez,
It means that the disc (or your drive) is not supported for 4k UHD Copy or Rip. Please read this for a more complete explanation: https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forum/uhd-co...-blu-ray-discs

As to Player 5, I believe GPU acceleration should be supported for you GTX 1080 card, please try it and report the results.

Hi signals; thanks for the reply.

Besides posting here on this forum, I've also had contacts with DVDFab Support via e-mail.

Whether my question was about ripping the content from a 4K disc, or, questions about playing a 4K disc using DVDFab Media Player 5 (I don't have the Media Player 5 program, just inquiring about it), the response from you, signals, and a response I received via e-mail from DVDFab Support, both contained the same web link:

Since I'm kinda new to this, maybe you'll have to explain it in a little more detail, because I'm not quite understanding it.

So, whether it's ripping content, or, just playing the 4K disc, it seems from the link's article/ info, that I need "keys", correct? In the article from that link, it even says, "Please note that the content of such file is your sole responsability and therefore DVDFab cannot assist you if a certain disc is not found in it."

So, I'd have to do some searching on the Internet on the movie/ film that I'm interested in to see if there is a "key" out there that will allow me to play/ rip the 4K disc? Do I have this correct?

Let's say I find one of these "keys" of a movie that I have on a 4K disc: How do I get the DVDFab 10 program to "see" the key?

From some reading I've done, do I put the key in this location?: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\DVDFab10\Log

Inside of this "Log" folder there are already some text documents. Do I take the text for the "key" that I might find and just insert it (Copy/ Paste) into one of the existing text documents in the Log folder? Or do I create a new text document, give it a random name, and insert the text of the key in there? Or does the text file have to have a specific name?

Sounds like I need one of these keys whether I want to rip or engage a 4K disc in playback, doesn't it?

Even from what you stated in your previous reply (that my GPU acceleration should be supported by my GTX 1080 card), it sounds like it doesn't matter: It sounds like it won't play unless I have one of these keys, right?

      So please, if you could, address my inquiries about these "keys", and in detail, if you would;
      thanks,
      Pez
