I guess we'll all have to wait and see. Downloaded bunch of stuff yesterday.

From what I see here these messages began July 8th. That's the date that Amazon Prime Day began (in the US anyway, not sure about other countries).

I mention this only because I went through my junk mail and received something from Amazon on that day that mentioned bogus phishing mails.

Then today I noticed that one of the tech sites I follow (sorry - I saw it about 6 hours ago, but I don't know how to go through notifications on my android phone), could be Tom's Guide, could be Wire Cutter... that was all about amazon phishing emails sent on July 8th.

I'm just leaving this info here. Could be relevant, might not be. I don't know.
I've not received anything relating to what's being discussed in this forum (yet?).
I have both Amazon ca and Amazon us accounts.
I just thought the date these began (as reported here) was fishy.

But people received account bans....there is currently no rhyme or reason on these messages or emails.

Got a warning email on 7/24.
Strange thing is that the email is sent from amazon au. I never used or logged in to that region's site.

Interesting from amazon.au. What is your normal amazon account? Did you receive both E-Mail and Amazon Message? Have you stopped downloading since you received the message?

I'm in US with no-commercial add-on. Been downloading a good amount lately, but haven't received anything.

              I usually use amazon.jp.
just checked, there is no message under my account, just an email.
              I stopped downloading since then.

hey guys, the new version of Streamfab has arrived, the 6.2.4.7, among the things that have changed:

New: Some improvements on the Amazon analysis and download engine.
New: Added support to analyze and download video highlights from Amazon Prime Video.

did this solve the problem of Amazon knowing who is downloading and sending emails and warnings caused by that API update?

As a precaution, I would not assume that.

                    And if that still applies:

but we are still not receive the warning email or message.
It might also be difficult to test this ..
.. especially since the email is not necessarily sent immediately after the trigger.

well, in any case, I hope someone can test to see if things are safe or not

Just wanted to mention the way I am thinking about this just to see what others think on the topic going forward.

I don't think there is anything Fab (as software) can do such that Amazon won't know what we are doing. Amazon can read these forums and buy Fab too. Your login, your IP, your behavior, they know and they will never not know. The only question is do they care enough to put forth effort to curb it.

I assume this is a warning shot. From this point on I would not assume we get warnings prior to a ban. And if they REALLY wanted to make a point of it, they could indeed send out lawsuits to make examples of a few folks. It's happened in the past.

I plan on ceasing using Fab for now with Amazon. I will let the dust settle and go from there. I have alternate plans but I will wait.

Why wouldn't they just block access to their video site? A little heavy handed to completely cancel your account.

And still --- is there a possibility of removing the DRM from stuff that you legit download to use later with their video player? We see software to do that with itunes stuff.

How do you want to test that? Do you think Amazon will give a GO? OK, now I can't see you anymore!
NEVER use the update function within Streamfab. Always download the offline file!

well, I don't know, maybe downloading enough for what would cause the open and sending the Email

I would test it, but 1, I don't want to risk my Prime, 2 I don't have their full module to be able to test
