cactusdave, your last log still shows that you are attempting to write at 12x, the advice you got to try 4x was really good advice, you should at least try that with the media you are using.

I think I would go into device manager and uninstall the drive completely, reboot and let Windows install the native drivers.

Morning cactusdave, if you want to uninstall the drive go to control panel, if you use classic view select system, if not it’s hardware and sound then device manager. Either way you should see a list of devices on your computer. Pretty close to the top will be DVD/CD-ROM drives. Click the plus sign to the left of it. This will display in a list all of the optical drives in your computer. Right click on the drive giving you trouble and you’ll see how to uninstall it. Sometimes the driver gets pooched or the resources are conflicting with something else and when you reboot it will be reinstalled correctly. Maybe this will fix the problem and maybe not but it is a low risk maneuver and worth a shot.

A new drive is only about $30 or $40 US, maybe cheaper on cyber Monday! That would be cheaper than a new PC for sure.

                          1. Buy a new computer
                          2. Buy a new burner
                          3. Do a clean reinstall of your O/S
                          4. Buy good blank media
                          5. Don't even bother and play from the original that you purchased.

Format your hard drive, install Windows and all software, in other words start over.
