    Ok really?

I came here for help. Not to be told I need to dump all my XBOX's and go to something else.

I paid money (a few differant times) for a product that is not doing what it is supposed to do.

The XBOX 360 is not the problem, the XBOX 360 is doing everything it is supposed to do. DVDFAB is not.

If this is a known issue then DVDFAb just needs to remove the WMV / XBOX 360. then there would not be any confusion. I am sitting here waisting my time and endless hours on something not because of the XBOX, because DVDFAB has an option to do something that apparently it cannot do.

That is why I am wasting time on this.

And my XBOX's work perect, and the system I have works perfect. I have a 6tb NAS device that I have over 200 movies in WMV format on, they were all created with a previous version of DVDFAB. I can go to either of my large screen TV's and bring up any movie I have loaded on my NAS device, my sons can also bring it up on their XBOX's in their rooms. AND they can use the same device to play their games on.

I feel this conversation has digressed from the real issue that the DVDFAB program is not performing as it is advertised. If it did what I paid for it to do, there would not be any issues and I would be a happy person.

Is there an acual technical assistant email address I can email my complaint to or is the forum the only support option?

I would like to know if they are working on this issue and if they are when they think they might have a fix.

If they are not working on the issue or dont know when they will have a fix then I need to just un-install DVDFAB and look for a program that will work.

If you had previous version of Fab that worked correctly, can you please let us know what version it was?

If you can locate it, this may be am intermediate solution to your problem.

Install version 7 and keep it up to date with all the beta versions and use this to rip all the new releases to yout hard disk.

As Version 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 can all be happily installed on the one machine, find the version that did not give you problems and install it and then use it to transcode the titles from the hard disk.

If you need a previous version, I think that I have most of them.

Whatever the previous version to 7 was, is what was working.

I dont know why it started working because I had problems with it also, but after screweing with it, for some reason it just started converting the videos correctly (well most, every once in awhile I would get a video that had an audio sync problem, I created a folder and I placed the dvd's in there hoping a future update would fix those)

Then one day I tried to use it and it had said my licenense had expired, and would not let me do the DVD to file option anymore unless I renewed my license, during that renewal process I was forced to upgrade to the newest version in order to get the license.

So I installed the newest version, paid for the license renewal, then after that NO DVD to WMV conversions worked.

I guess that is another issue that is frustrating me, I felt like I was forced to upgrade a product that was working and left with it not working.

I still have DVDFAV 6 on my computer, I never un-installed it. can I use the same code? I guess I will go and see if the new license number will work

Yeah, the same key should work for Version 6.

The upgrade to version 7 was necessary to defeat the newer copy protection schema being introduced by the studios.

Let us know if it works and what actual version it is.

License key works for both DVDFab 6 and 7. Please make sure DVDFab 7 is closed when registering DVDFab 6.

Ok, I just got a sucessful conversion.
I used DVDFAB version 6 instead of 7

              2 Pass

              Fix bit rate of 2000mb

              Frame rate 29.97fps

              Resolution same as original

for example, I converetd the Tooth Fairy. I went into video effects and looked at the original frame resolution, which in this case was

              Original Frame Resolution (854¡Ã480)

I then chose a custom frame resolution size and made it 854 by 480

I looked at the movie at the begining, the middle and the very end and the audio sync seems to be good through out.

I have about 15 movies already ripped to the drive. I am going to queue them up and see how they all turn out. I should report back tomorrow

BTW, FYI, I tried the same thing with version 7 and it didnt work.

Can you please tell us the exact version? eg 6.2.1.8 to left of Fab window.

Yup! The Xbox 360 can play avi and many other formats as long as you allow your computer to stream the folders with the video files in and as well configure the XBox 360 to see them as well. I did that and was able to see a lot of movies I have on the computer but I already knew this but just forgot that it was possible as I have not used my Xbox 360 for sometime

I don't understand why people so attached themselves to their game consoles... don't even want to go much further, you've said it perfect.
Especially XBOX... People just not getting it.... Windows Media Player is the worst player ever, what they're expecting from XBOX???

I would like to know what is exactly so bad about WMPlayer and why, and what media player do you recommend?

My platform is winXP Pro and Win 7 Pro, 64Bit. I'm seriously thinking of using Win Media Center on a Custom PC that is a DVR and internet box. What is so wrong about that?

thrasherfox in order for the XBox 360 to see and play avi files and other formats you need to allow your computer to stream those folders over the network. Then you have to set the XBox 360 up so it can open them folders/files as well. I did that last night and tested a few files I had and it worked great but I only use my XBox 360 for gaming but once in a while I will use it to watch a movie I have on my computer or for watching TV as I not have cable hooked up to my TV only hooked up to computer better control for that

IMO, there's nothing right with WMPlayer, it's only good for pushing all kinds of crap to PC users. It just another version of iTunes (or other way around - both suck). Besides very few (DVDFab including) shareware, commercial programs, I'm absolute fan of freeware. Not because it's free, but because developed by enthusiasts without any monetary interest, with deep understanding and knowledge of needs and desires of end-users.
In terms of good videoplayes, my heart is with Media Player Classic Home Cinema (you can get it here: http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/downlo...lassic-hc.html ). Preference of some others on this forum - VLC. That's good player as well, I have it too. Between these two players you can play absolutely any video/audio content. They have streaming capability, built-in tools, etc. You just have to try it and explore it.

I think the beatup of the Xbox 360 does not address the issue and is not appropriate. The Xbox has the function to play movies as well as games. DVDFab advertises as being able to produce playable files on the Xbox. Many people who own the Xbox want to take advantage of what it can do rather than buying a separate player. I agree that if DVDFab says it can do DVD to WMV, it should be able to do what it says or not do it. I don't see much support on this forum from the DVDFab team anymore. Seems it's just from mods who have their own opinion of what they like and don't like and push that on everyone else instead of trying to address the issues. Don't mean to break any forum rules by stating that but it's just the way I see it. BTW I do not own an Xbox (I'm a PC gamer only dude) so I'm not giving a biased opinion about Xbox.

As far as Windows Media Player being the crappiest player. It's the one I use on Windows 7 (as well as Windows Media Center). I don't find it crappy at all, it does everything I want it to (sometimes with the assist of other codecs like the Shark Codec pak). Personally I see no reason to have mulitiple players if one does the job (plays everything I need it to play). I like to keep things as simple and as efficient as I can.

I've been streaming AVI files to my new XBox for months now with no problems. I used the recommendations from this site as well as here... http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...acenterpc.aspx

If you're streaming from an XP machine (not MCE version), you will need to use WMP11 as stated here...

Once again this thread has been corrrupted away from the title subject by debates about other topics. I ask everyone again to stick to facts (as opposed to opinion) and discuss what the thread is about. Mike89, if you have problems about forum policies or practices you should contact me via the Contact Us link's "Forum" button at the bottom of any page. Do not air them in a thread.
