For the benefit of those in the future who stumble upon this thread and would like to see a Cinavia Fix with a blu-ray player that is unaffected by Cinavia and always will be, here it is. The drive I used is an internal LG W10LS30 Blu-ray Rewriter (OEM) with rubber feet affixed to the bottom of it so it stays stable and stationary atop of my AIOS HD Media Center. I use the Eject button on the remote to open and close the drive.

Ok I got the same optical drive and 2.0 sata to ubs adapter as superfist so I can play blu rays from a optical blu ray player that also plays 3d blu rays from disks through my Mecca 3d media player.
The optical disk player show up as a dvd drive in the media players menu (see photo)The main reason for doing so is to be able to play Cinavia effected disks through our media player.
In my case also to play 3d disks through my media player for testing and to replace a original PlayStation I use to use as a 3d disk player.
I tested 2d disks and they played without problems the disks can be ejected with the media players remote control theirs also a eject button on the drive also.
Then I tested with different 3d disks some play fine others have audio dropouts or freeze frames. My thinking here is I need a different sara to ubs cable as 2.0 may not be fast enough data rate for 3d due to so much more info going through the cable than 2d.
I ordered today a 3.0 sara to ubs cable ($30) and power supply to replace the ($12.95) 2.0 sara to ubs cable I am using for this test.
A 3.0 connection is 10x faster(5GPS) than 2.0 so more data should be able to flow much faster then 2.0 data rate and I am hoping this will take care of the problems with 3d movies.I will put up a update to this report when i get the new 3.0 connector. My media player is using a 3t hard drive with 3.0 outputs and hi speed ubs cable that works fine with the media player with 3d movies.
All 3d movies tested were from 50 gig Fab made iso's disks.
3d side by side disks played fine with the 2.0 connector as these disks are really not full 3d or blu rays but data files.Last edited by glenns; 07-14-2014, 09:17 AM.

After playing many of my older 3d side by sides on regular dvd disks db9 and db5s they don't play for some reason and they should because they are 3d data files.A few did play but most won't however.
When i plugged this blu ray drive into the computer they played just fine using power dvd 11 and also play fine on my other Pioneer computer disk drive as well also a outboard Panasonic 2d regular blu ray player played them fine so I really don't know whats going on here.In this case I really don't think its the 2.0 slower data rate but we will see when i get the 3.0 cable.
Their is also a update to firmware for this drive that I took. The upgrade went from version 1.00 software to 101a1 (4-23-13) it claims to improve blu ray playback.I am not sure if the update to blu ray burner is stored on the drives flash memory or on the computers hard drive any one know?
I also noticed the power supply gets very hot during use so make sure it's not under something that can melt or catch fire.Last edited by glenns; 06-05-2013, 09:11 AM.

Thanks for the info, glenns.
You and others with 3D issues make me glad I never cared for watching 3D movies. My screen is so clear it gives most movies a 3 dimensional look anyway, and that's more than enough for me.

I want to know if we will get the improvements using the media player with the drive as after flashing the drive windows went and downloaded new drivers so the real question is does the flash memory on the drive need to use new windows drivers to get the improvement from the updated firmware in this case better blu ray playback?
If it works this way then when plugged into the media drive we won't get the improvements as we don't have windows drivers on the media players.
You really need to see 3d to get a feel for it as it improves watching the picture greatly. Now if you think your tv looks good now put a Darbee in between your hdmi output of your receiver and the input of your hdmi tv and your going to blow out of your socks as the detail increases as if you were watching a 4k native picture it's that good and can improve any tv with hdmi inputs 10 fold. This will make even a crappy hdtv look great.
You won't believe how mush detail this tiny box brings out in a hd picture every strand of hair is so much clearer and my 60 inch plasma is professional adjusted gray scale to 65K and picture fine tuned colors to hdtv standard and I thought the world of this picture before adding the Darbee.
Now it's just like watching native 4k at much cheaper price check this out when they demo it in a store near you looks like your looking out your window
If the tv had no edges and you put it where the window should be you will walk right through the tv 4k native rocks and it's coming to a store near you so check it out when you do so you will know what a $300 Darbee box can do for your already 3d like picture and this box works with real 3d also.Ok a little off track lets get back to the subject at hand.

Here's a update on my 3d report using a optical drive with my Micca 3d media player after taken a update for the drives firmware:
Although I have a few more days to update the 3d part of this review as I am waiting for a sata to ubs 3.0 converter and power supply I can report on taking a update to the drives firmware with LG saying the update improves blu ray playback on this optical drive.
It does more than that as I couldn't play back most of my side by side db9 and db5 data 3d disks but am happy to report that now they work on this optical drive just shows how important the firmware updates are.
I also noticed during testing many disks now and then you get one that will eject and on screen it will say bad disk unplugging the ubs cable from the drive then plugging it back in will allow the disk to be played i don't know why this happens at this point but the cure is easy however it shouldn't happen at all in my humble option.
Even though they claimed the update was for upgraded blu ray playback most of my 3d side by sides are not on blu ray disks but normal disks.
This drive was made in March 2013 a month later 4-23-13 theirs a firmware update for it. I think they rushed this drive out the door before they could get the firmware to work correct on disks in General.I will give a update on playing 3d disks soon as I get the higher speed 3.0 sata to ubs cabel and power supply.Last edited by glenns; 06-06-2013, 07:35 AM.

I don't think they want us in the talk about anything topics here's what i got when i tried to read a post their.(glenns, you do not have permission to access this page).
This is weird cause i go downstairs to the international forums and they don't ask me for any permission to talk or read their posts. The post I clicked on was cinava broken by me.
Can I conclude my report on 3d media players and optical drives here? or do I have to wave a white flag to get in on the talk about anything part of the forum.Last edited by glenns; 06-09-2013, 10:07 AM.

Part two using Micca media player to take out cinavia and play 3d films by plugging in a optical 3d blu ray player into it using a Sata to UBS cable and power supply.
First I used 2.0 Sata to UBS cable comes with a plug in power supply 12 volts at 2 amps and 5 volts at 2 amps $12.95 from New egg.
Second I used a 3.0 sata to UBS cable with a 12 volt at 2 amps power supply for $30.00 at New Egg.This unit has a high speed UBS cable that has two USB plugs pigtailed on 1 wire so if you need to draw more power you could attach one end into your media player and the other end into your computer to draw extra power from your computers power supply.I didn't have to do this but i tried it anyway and didn't seem to make a difference i could see.But for long term use it may be advisable as it may keep the power supply from burning out long term as the setup below confirms.
Third i used the built in to my 3d media player Sata connection and supplied Sata to Ubs connector wire.I had trouble with the remotes command to open and close the disk tray when using this connection what would happen is the tray will open then close right away because of this and the power supply for the Micca is just 12 volts at 2 amps and another user with the same unit told me after using them for a while the Micca's power supply will burn out because it over taxes it by being used to power both units. This connection on the Micca is really for a Sata hard drive that seems to use less power than a optical drive.
So all 3 connections worked fine with regular blu rays and the set up is not effected with Cinavia effected disks.
And for playing 3d disks yes Virgina their is a Santa clause because all 3 of the above setups played 3d disks.I did have to take a Firmware upgrade for the optical drive as it didn't play side by side 3d data disks and I can't understand why as most of mine were on db9 and db5 regular dvd's except a few that were on blu rays. The upgrade was to make blu rays play better so go figure.
Now their were a few glitches along the way at one point the player was not playing 50 gig fab made iso's ejecting the tray saying they were bad disks and i knew they were iso's made as backups on new disks only played once on my old play station (Now trash) to see if the burn was good.
Well their seems to be times when weird things like this happen rebooting the media player or unplugging it then replugging it back in solves this problem.Sometimes theirs a pink background just stopping the media player then starting it back up solves this.
Their is a upgrade to the media player that may solve these glitches that happen only every now and then i don't want to use it because hd dolby digital doesn't work with my media player and my receiver if I take the firmware upgrade for the media player.I don't know why this is.
Support tells me it's not happening with other users.I think their lying they only have so much memory on the device and i think other improvements means taken out something to make room so Dolby Hd went because its only on a few films these are my thoughts only here I could be wrong.
Their are 2 other upgrades to my Micca from the 103.09 version of their firmware I am using. The Micca can be flashed backwards or forwards in firmware so i did try the latest firmware for a few tests not long enough to see if the little bugs were gone as like I said I get no Dolby digital hd with the other versions of software and everything is converted to PCM and yes the Micca is set to output RAW audio my receiver does all the decoding and tells you what the soundtrack is hd dolby, dts hd etc but not with the other firmware it just seems to convert everything to PCM audio like the old PlayStation did to be able to play 3d hd audio.
During the first part of this review i was having trouble with a 3d blu ray i was using for the test Transformersark side of the moon it has a 7.1 dolby hd soundtrack so i thought it would be great for the test turns out this disk played back with glitch's plus audio dropouts that's why i figured i needed the 3.0 hi speed sata connection but I was wrong it was a bad disk i re-burned the disk and it played back fine in 3d without drop outs even with the 2.0 connection.
On the disks with seamless branching such as Wreck it Ralph 50 gig iso their was very slight glitches where one file ends and another starts but i don't think this is the set ups fault as my iso on the media drive doe's do this as well even as a side by side 3d data file made from it.
I tested fab made 50 and 25 gig iso disks both 2d and 3d and side by side 3d data disks db9,db5 and on blu rays with many different versions of Fab.I tested with hd dolby digital,hd dts and regular versions of their audio and also with 7.1 sound tracks all played fine.
Their were a few disks that didn't play back in 3d The smurfs full 3d 25 gigs and Toy story full 3d 25 gigs these i don't know why they didn't play in 3d unless they were made bad. They do play in 2d.
I didn't test with store brought 3ds that will happen at a latter date.

Another user sent me a PM with some $46-$73 dollars solutions to the Cinavia problem 6x external 3.0 blu ray player with 3d playback and burns dvd's for $46 and a blu ray burner 6x external 3.0 UBS that burns blu rays with 3d playback. These are 5 volt low power drives.(6x speed for bd-r's)
These are made and shipped from China free.I believe you will need to plug it into your media player to be cinavia free or use it with a computer and software player that's cinavia free.

If the cheaper models aren't backwards compatible and your infected player can't handle 3.0, I wouldn't expect it to work.
FWIW - I contacted the seller asking if the cheaper drives are backwards compatible. I will post back when I receive an answer.
