      NOOKcolor needs a profile too!!!

I have the NOOKcolor and the DVDFab MP4 format profile doesn't work on the NOOKcolor. I think it doesn't work because of the way the audio is formated with it. It can only play .mp3 and .acc and the audio is something else. After playing with it, I was able to get the DVDFab iPod profile format to work on the NOOKcolor but, I had to custom format the resolution to a higher setting to match the original format of the video.

I am a long time customer and supporter(word of mouth advertising) for DVDFab. I would appreciate a format profile for the NOOKcolor with various resolution settings. I think the NOOKcolor will be a very hot product this Christmas, next year, and in the future for B&N. No, I don't work for them, I just love the product. No more iPods for me. The iPad is way overpriced!

I like the expandable storage using microSD cards something that is not offered with apple product. Start a thread in the feature request section asking for some profiles to be added for it

          Touch Pro 2 (TP2) MP4 Profile

          Touch Pro 2 profile

I have played with both WMV and MP4 profiles for theTP2. They were ok. I prefer MP4 since other devices use that format and I don't want to keep multiple versions of the same movie. With MP4 in high action scenes I would see some stuttering on the TP2. With 8.x my MP4 profile did not work anymore. I played with it, gave up and reverted to 7.x. I am no expert on profiles so I hack away till something works. I decided to start fresh. I selected the ipodtouch profile. I changed it to support 720xXXX. Other devices I use support that size and the TP2 expands to fit full screen. I tried it and the video was amazing but no sound. It was smooth and no stuttering. I hacked away at the sound and got something to work. Another interesting point it now converts at 2x-3x the speed of the old profile. When I look at the old profile and the new one they are almost identical. Seems like black magic.

There are 2 MP4 players on TP2. The HTC player and Windows Media Player. The movie plays the same. I prefer the HTC player since I can simply click on a file in file manager and it plays. With WMP you have to update library and it takes awhile if you have over a 1000 sounds.

          Couple of items:
          1. I rip DVD to MainMovie ISO. I only select English subtitles and the 5.1 audio track.
          2. For subtitles I select Direct render to video and Forced Subtitles.
          3. Disable cropping. If you don't it stretches movie in vertical direction.
          4. Use single pass. I have experimented with both and I can see no difference. Why waste time
          5. I set volume to 150%.
          6. I have this working with 8.0.5.8

I have 100's of ISOs to rip. You would have to be insane to do it manually. I created a batch command script. It processes a directory of ISO files to a directory of MP4 files. With a simple double click it will convert 100s of movies. Read the comments. It requires several setting changes to run. Remove .txt from bat file. Forum does not allow .bat files.

Where can I find documentation on the contents of a profile?

            Hi,

I've been playing around with making profiles for my Nexus One and some various Android Tablets (White Pandigital Novel, ....)

Can someone point me to a document describing the contents of a profile?

I can make profiles do sort of the right thing, but not always default to the proper settings. For instance, the Pandigital Novel seems to break with 5.1 channel audio and prefer 2 channel audio, but I can't make the profile simply default to that.

And yet all you folks are making profiles.... /confused look from me to me

            Thank you,

            Jerry

              Noob query:

Can profiles be used to also set the title and filename fields? Browsing the existing profiles and some of the examples here I can't find any examples of changing these fields.

I'd like to "control" what DVDFab uses as FOLDER and FILENAME without manually editing each and every rip (makes it harder to do batches).

Rather than hi-jack this thread, I'll repost the question elsewhere... but if there is a PROFILE PROGRAMMERS GUIDE and SYNTAX, that would save a lot of questions.

I have a Nook Color too. It would be good to have a profile for it. Or maybe when they release the Android ver 2.2 it will cure the issue.

Here are some answers to your questions. The output filename can not be controlled from within the profile, but it can be set up in DVDFab Common Settings so that the filename is always in a format you want, e.g. <Volume>.<Videocodec> would produce a filename like WALL_E.h264.mp4. This is under DVD/Blu-ray Ripper->Output, near the bottom of the Settings list.

You can learn to work with profiles by studying the readme file that is contained in the Profiles folder. It is slightly out of date, but is a good start. It contains commands and syntax examples.

When you post asking for a new profile for DVDFab, please post the video requirements of your device or a link to a page that contains them.

Changes to the way DVDFab stores profiles in a recent version made profiles that had been set as default unavailable in some instances. To correct this, re-select the profile manually, make your changes, and click Set as Default again to store it.

NookColor MP4 Profile - Amazing Results

                      NookColor profile (Nook Color)

I just got my NookColor and tried the MP4 video I use on my Touch Pro 2. It worked amazingly well. This works so well it is my preferred way to watch a movie when I am by myself.

I am no expert on profiles so I hack away till something works. I selected the ipodtouch profile. I changed it to support 720xXXX. The movies range from .8G to 1.5G. They side load in 3-4 minutes. I did get it to download via wifi in 15mins. I run IIS Webserver in my home. It comes with Vista. I put the movie on my webserver. mp4 mime type is video/mp4. This did not work for downloads so I changed it to application/mp4. It downloaded fine. There is no file delete on the NC so make sure you have enough space.

                      5. I set volume to 150%. May want to try 200%.

                        Registering Profiles

                        Two questions:

What is the difference between the profiles and profiles2 directory?

How do you get new profiles recognized by DVDFAB? Trying to add a tivo profile and I can't seem to get it recognized by DVDFAB.

                        Thanx in advance.

                            New MKV Profiile

Well thanks to other members help, I have managed to re-create an MKV profile that is similar to that used in another popular encoder (can't mention the name of it - but its icon is a fruit - Hopefully they will let me get away with saying that )

It is using the High profile, and managed to get the constant quality to work, so if you use it you don't have to enter a bitrate, just leave it at the default and it all works itself out. It is using a constant quality of 19 (but that can be changed to anything if you edit the file)

So far tested it and it looks good - really good - especially as it can burn in any subs and remove any HD on blurays.

I have enclosed a zip file containing the xml and the preset file in case anyone else out there is interested.

For those of you that are better a writing the presets I am sure you will be able to do a better job.

                            Thanks. DB

                              PS3 and T-Mobile G2, 5.1 Surround

I have started to back up all my media onto a external hard drive connected to my router. I can access it via my PS3 and my Android phone via FTP.

I wanted to encode into files, with 5.1 surround sound, that play on the PS3 as well as my G2.

These profiles are working for me. The built in video player on the G2 doesn't play the files with 5.1, but 3rd party ones do.

The volume is upped to 175% to compensate for the cell phone's small speaker.

                              You'll find this under the "DVD Ripper -> PS3 - >PS3.HTCG2.widescreen.

There is also a 4:3 version.
