Here is a test profile for the Motorola Droid. It takes advantage of the Droid's ability to play full D1 at 24 fps. This profile is not officially supported unless/until it is supplied with the DVDFab installer. It makes H264+AAC MP4 files. I will post one that makes AVIs for the Droid later. Just copy the attachment to your ..\Program Files\DVDFab 6\Profiles folder. It will appear in the cellphone dropdown selector as DROID MP4. Note: the 720x480 setting is available since the phone supports it but may have unpredictable results with some content. I suggest you choose one of the other sizes that match the aspect ratio of the original or cropped original image.

I tested this profile today and I loaded Hot Tub Time Machine...movie plays perfect and sound is synced. Only thing is has subtitles and no way to turn off. Maybe I missed a setting to not include when copying? I'm using DVDfab 7....(I just added this last bit and seen where I had the english subtitles checked after did a dry run)...can't wait to do another...Thanks!!

Glad this worked for you. Uncheck the Subpicture box and you should have no subs in the output. This profile worked so well for most users that I never did the AVI version. The Droid seems to like these MP4s.

Disney Mix Max Profile

Here is a profile for the Disney Mix Max. I have tested it with different content with no problems, but it is not officially supported until it is part of the DVDFab installer. Download the profile and place it in the Profiles folder (not Profiles2) where you have DVDFab installed, usually C:\Program Files\DVDFab 7\... (\Program Files(x86) for 64-bit OS). To access it in DVD to Mobile, select PVP in the left-hand navigation pane, then select MIXMAX from the dropdown at the bottom of the title select window. It should appear as the default in the dropdown window. The default settings should produce good results, change them at your peril--the Mix Max is a very picky device. Disney no longer sells content to support the Mix Max, but now you can make your own.

If you have problems with this profile, post them in this thread with "MIXMAX" in the title.

Note: If you put the profile in the folder with DVDFab open, you will need to restart it for the new profile to show up. If DVDFab shows "Zune" (or any other PVP) as the selected profile in the dropdown, you either need to restart or the new profile is in the wrong place.

Can someone help me by posting a profile for maximum enjoyment for my Samsung Vibrant. Supposedly it utilizes 800x480 resolution, but I'm having a hard time setting it up using the dvd ripper portion of dvdfab. Thanks.

MP4 AudioCopy broken with DVDFab8?

Since upgrading to DVDFab8 all my custom profiles that used a MP4 container and audio copy give me a 500.1 error. I can use MKV with audiocopy fine but I would like to have MP4 files.. This was working up to the last 7.x version.

Anyone else run into this error? Attached is my profile..

MIXMAX Issue with Profile

I'm having trouble, signals, with the MixMax profile you've posted. But I suspect it may be an issue with the overall workflow.

I'm using VirtualDrive to mount an ISO, using DVD Ripper with said profile to make a copy for my MixMax 2.1. I adjust the screen output to 320x240 (bigger screen size for the 2.1), but when I play the video on the MixMax it stops playing shortly after starting.

I'm going to try to re-encode, but wanted to check with the community and see if anyone else is having this problem?

You shouldn't need virtual drive at all. Just open the ISO directly with Ripper. I presume the ISO is created by DVD Copy?

Cut out all unnecessary steps & complications for a start. You're not running Passkey also are you?

Do what Gregiboy suggested. The profile should work fine but the default bitrates and other settings were tailored for the MixMax 1.

Try playing the file on your PC and see if it stops when played there.

Encode Method in profile question

I am trying to create a personal preference profile for my iPad, and so far have managed quite well using the default iPad one as a starting point, but I'm not sure about the difference with Encoding Method and the Fixed Bitrate or filesize...

Basically I have always wanted the High Quality (2 Pass) to be the default value as I've found that slightly better in the end video, but I don't understand the difference the Fixed Bitrate then has.

The example 'read me' in the profile directory seems to imply that the fixed bitrate number is relevant when you choose 1 pass, and the Fixed file size is relevant when you use the 2 pass option. Is this correct? Or is setting the 2 pass option and a fixed bitrate of 2000 (for example) a good way to go?

I think you will find on a screen no larger than the iPad's that any preceptible difference in the video quality is not worth the extra processing time (and can probably be produced by just bumping the one-pass bitrate to produce 0.3 or more in the bits/pixel column). Your assumptions about one and two-pass are correct, i.e. one-pass allocates the available bits versus time with no foreknowledge of the bits actually needed to encode the content; two-pass provides that foreknowledge. I personally never use it, but some use it exclusively. In addition to the longer processing time, it (two-pass) also seems to be more prone to A/V sync problems with some content. Experiment and use the method that suits your needs and perceptions: one of the big pluses of DVDFab's highly tweakable UI.

New DroidX profiles

Here are three new profiles for the DroidX. The first two are for DVD Ripper, the third is for Blu-ray Ripper and should be considered experimental. I do not know why the previous profiles quit working, but these have been tested with DVD Ripper v8.0.2.9b and work well. Before installing them, close DVDFab and delete any existing DroidX profiles in the DVDFab 8\Profiles folder. Then download one or both of these to the same folder. They will appear under the "cellphone" device as before. The one for Blu-ray goes in the Profiles2 folder and must be installed using Customize UI and selecting the Blu-ray Ripper options group, and then clicking on the New button. Move "DroidX" to the active window when it appears. It has some A/V sync issues with some content, please try it if you have the BD Ripper option. Try the WMV profile first, it produces the best results.

Tips on getting smooth playback on the DroidX

There are two profiles for DVD Ripper: one makes wmv, the other MP4. The device supports MP4 and will playback these files but not particularly well with widescreen content when held horizontally. Use this profile if you need this type of file for another purpose, or possibly for playback via the HDMI output. The WMV profile produces smoother images when viewed on the DroidX. The profile was designed to produce files very similar to those produced by the Motorola driver if you use "PC mode" on the Droid and allow the driver to make an on-the-fly conversion when moving content to the device. With this profile, you do not need to use the driver and should have the Droid connection set up as "USB Mass Storage" for moving the files. I think you will find that playback is much less jerky with the smaller (i.e. <480 pixels wide) screen choices and a bitrate between 900-1200 kbps. The image will still fill the screen. The profiles both allow these settings, as well as much larger screens if you are using the HDMI output to feed a monitor. The A/V sync with both of these profiles is perfect when played on the DroidX and forced subs render correctly also.

These profiles (the DVD Ripper ones) are part of DVDFab as of v8.0.3.0 Beta and are officially supported now.

I got better results with the Blu-ray version with all AV Codec choices set to "Software". Please post your results, good or bad, in this thread.

Here is a test profile that makes "DVD-like" conversions from Blu-rays (designed for true mobile devices or SD players with smaller screens).
