Motorola Droid MP4 Profile

Here is a test profile for the Motorola Droid. It takes advantage of the Droid's ability to play full D1 at 24 fps. This profile is not officially supported unless/until it is supplied with the DVDFab installer. It makes H264+AAC MP4 files. I will post one that makes AVIs for the Droid later. Just copy the attachment to your ..\Program Files\DVDFab 6\Profiles folder. It will appear in the cellphone dropdown selector as DROID MP4. Note: the 720x480 setting is available since the phone supports it but may have unpredictable results with some content. I suggest you choose one of the other sizes that match the aspect ratio of the original or cropped original image.

It worked great on my Droid. I was able to create a file for Star Trek at 850x480 that worked fine. Now that I see how it is done I created 3gp H264+AAC and 3gp MPEG4+AAC profiles that work also.

I had an AVI file that I copied to my Droid but the Gallery player app does not even see AVI files on the device.

TiVo Profile

There are a few nice programs that allow movies to either be copied to (PyTivo) the TiVo or streamed to (StreamBaby) the TiVo. This profile creates the correct MP4 video file so that no other converstions are required.

The video is MP4, H264 and AAC Stereo audio. I would love to force AC3 audio as then 6.1 audio is supported by the TiVo.

Why don't you use

Instead of

This will then give you audio passthrough and you select the DD5.1 track.

That will give me AC3 for those titles that have AC3 audio, however it will also give me non-AC3 for DVD titles that do not have AC3 audio. I can not have non AC3 audio. Now most *newer* DVDs have AC3 audio, older or cheaper movies have different audio profiles.

I need a way to guarantee AC3 audio. Thanks for the suggestion,

Thanks for the profile! I tested it and found the video/audio to be slightly out of sync when played back on my Droid. Any suggestions?

Some sync issues are content related. Try a different movie. You can also try making the conversion from a DVD folder on your hard drive instead of a disc, and try reducing the audio bitrate and video bitrate using the controls on the Edit page. Sometimes it helps to use a smaller output screen size. It was fine with the movie I tried when played on my PC, but I dont have a Droid to trest on, sorry. Try the above and let me know how it works. Also make sure your memory card supports high enough transfer rates. If you're loading straight into the Droid's internal memory it should not matter.

I tried a different movie and reduced the output screen size to 640X320. It plays fine on my PC but it wont play on my Droid. It's probably operator error. I'll experiment more when I get time and report back.

Making Custom Profiles

Hi,
I've tried to find the old Profile Editor program to download but was unable to.
During the process, I saw a reference to using "NotePad" for this purpose. Is there a set of instructions for doing this lurking about the forum somewhere?
I didn't mind using the Profile Editor and wouldn't mind downloading it again, if I could only find it!
Either way, NotePad or Editor would be great. I have a PMP which works best with AVI, 600 bit, "Same As Source" fps, 480X320; with MP3, 128bit, stereo audio.
I'm using Windows 7, 64bit.

If you don't know how to use "Notepad" wihich has been in Windows since Version 1, I would suggest that you had better forget editing profiles with it.

Profile editor seemed to die a natural death.

If you have to ask how to use "Notepad", then I would think that if you started editing profiles with it, you would end up with all sort of problems.

If, on the other hand, you feel confident, there is a document spelling out all the parameters used in the profiles in the C:\Program Files\DVDFab6\Profiles\Readme directory.

I know how to use NotePad, I just don't know how to place the results into DVDFab.
