I see we have no answers yet on this as to why we can not use dvdfab on our newer computers. I have to use my husbands sony to copy dvds. I have not had a chance to try my external drive with the new computer yet. It would just be easier if i could use it on my own computer instead of getting his out and doing it.

Please Please some one address this and figure it out..................

          kdpooh,
If I didn't have an external drive, I'd be rather aggravated. But since I do, I actually really like using it! I just put the original DVD in the laptop's drive and put the blank in the external drive. The process completes without having to watch it. Pretty convenient

I guess I'm at the end of the road then. I always have the latest version. Just checked the forum and I should have 8.1.1.5, which I do.

                  How soon?
I just realized I had two versions on my computer (I only used the latest version). I decided to uninstall both, then restart my system. I was thinking of either reinstalling 8.1.1.5 or perhaps trying to install an older version, but I don't know if I can do that. The HP laptop that seems to work properly has version 8.1.0.0. I'd update it, but I figure I should leave well enough alone.

ETA: I have never provided a burn log file. I will do so, but I don't know how.

It would be useful if the crash happens after the original disc is ejected and the new one inserted, depending on the timing of the crsah there may be some useful info in the burn log. Its location depends on your operating system. Just use windows file search and tell it to look for the file dvdfab_burn_vso.log.

Don't know how soon for sure. The original plan was for tonight Beijing time, which generally means between 10AM-1PM EDT or 1400-1700 UTC, but this can vary with internal testing results and so on. It might even be tomorrow.

                      I found the log =)
I am installing 8.1.1.5 again and have a newer movie to use to test. If/when it crashes, I'll provide the latest log.

I got the BSOD at the same time the 1st process completed and the drive opened up.

I went to check the log, but it didn't record anything. I attempted to copy the movie at about 8:35, however the log is from earlier at 7:25.

FYI, I am on a Toshiba Satellite E305, Windows 7 Home Premium.

                        ETA: DVDFab v8.1.1.5
ETA: When my computer rebooted, I got a window that said my computer was restarting after a serious error. I clicked to get more info and got these two file locations: C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER473C.tmp.WERI nternalMetadata.xml
                        and C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP
ETA: Another thing, I just opened the file location of the DVDFab program. It says date modified was 8/26 at 11:43 pm. I figured it would have the date installed.

                          Thanks echo
The developers have not been able to duplicate this and I have not either, and we have tested it on Win7 and XP SP3 systems.

As a test, I would suggest that you try changing the DVDFab I/O control in Common Settings->Read from Auto (if it is set for that) to ASPI. DVDFab requires low level access to all of your drives to operate correctly and something may be interefering with the SPTI access which is used by default. If this does not help, set it back to SPTI or Auto. Also, low level access generally requires administrator permissions, so make sure you are either the only user account on your system or have full administrator permissions. Problems with this generally don't cause BSOD though.

Please attach the ,dmp and .xml files to a post using the Manage attachments button below the post edit window. If you get an error message that they are too large, contact me via PM.

My dvdfab.exe file has the same time and date, it is correct.

The new beta crashes immediately after the program opens and it says it's scanning media. I was directed to a place to report the problem, which I did, and it looks like dump files and logs were attached.

FYI, I tried it twice, then restarted my computer and tried it again. It crashed every time.

ETA: I uninstalled and reinstalled. It successfully scanned the media, so I'll go ahead and see if I can get it to work. One thing that I had done per the earlier instructions was to change the Read from Auto to ASPI. When I reinstalled the program, it reset back to Auto. Maybe that's why it was crashing?
