I should have read the post more closely. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I tried a little experiment and removed all traces of DVDFab. I installed QT8092 which will not run anyhow on my system. I deleted the DVDFAB.exe and the FABCORE.exe from the DVDFAB directory in Program Files.

I went to another computer that has DVDFAb 8085 and copied DVDFAB.exe and the FABCORE.exe and put them in the QT8092 install of first computer.

I rebooted and opened DVDFab. It did open, run and back up a disk. It did state that the version was 8085.

I may be wrong but could this be that those files (QT8092=dvdfab.exe & fabcore.exe)may have an issue with some peoples installs of XP sp3?

I think I'm gonna try and copy all the registry entries from my test rig that QT8092 is working on and import them into this rig that it is not working on. It may or may not do anything but I'm going to try anyhow.

I really am at a loss but hate giving up. If this doesn't work, I'll wait for the next few releases and see if they work. Unless somebody has a suggestion in the meantime, I'll reformat this blue beast and go from there.

            Hey CBR929,

I do appreciate and respect all of the help and suggestions you have given me. I appreciate everyone that has commented and suggested things to try.

If I do make a breakthrough into my issue, I'll be sure to post. If you do think of anything, I'll be glad to try it.

            Thanks Again!!!

              NOT ready for prime time

This Qt version is NOT ready for public use. I am glad the I still have the older version (which works great). The Qt version has too many problems:
              Non stop disc read
              Closes for rime or reason
              Hangs for no reason

Yes I have the latest version, have un-installed & re-installed. I have always though DVDFab software was the best until this latest release. You need to keep updating the non-Qt version until the problems are solved.

I agree but the issue is not happening to everyone. Thats why this is kind of strange. I can tell you that they are working on it and will fix it soon. They always do. I've been using DVDFab for years and have never been let down by it.

                      Hey CBR929,

I tried it, rebooted the system, then tried to open DVDFAB but it did not work on these two rigs.

Thanks for finding it, it was worth a shot. Always willing to try anything that may work.

It is so strange how QT8092 on XPSP3 will work for some but not others. What's even more strange is that the errors may be different. Even the work-a-rounds are different. In some cases, no work-a-round works.
I should say "no work-a-rounds as of yet"!!!

                      Thanks again.

To me it looks like a fresh install of the XP + SP3 solves the issue. So it doesn't look like the issue is hard ware related.

What would be interesting is if the affected users posted a log showing running programs generated by some program that shows running processes. There ought to be one program that they all have in common.

Yes, I think that would be a good idea as well. I can post screen shots of SYS INFO, MSCONFIG,etc or post the txt list from Autoruns. Autoruns shows every program, service, etc, but the txt file drives the eyes crazy. Any suggestion on a program that everyone having this issue could use? We have to have some commonality as to why we are having this issue.

                          Great idea/suggestion Gummigutta.

InCD C:\Program Files\Ahead\InCD\InCD.exe This is a bad one to have in the start items!

Actually it a bad program to have on your system, packet writing programs are a no no!

                                Hi 90312,

Yeah, I know thats a bad one to have but it has never caused me a problem and I have disabled it from the startup when I started having this problem with QT8092 but have re-enabled it since it didn't change my issue.

Anything else that has caught your eye?

                                Thanks
