I do have a few Windows 7 rigs as well. They do not have the issue that I and a few other people are having with the QT versions on their rigs with XP sp3. It's odd that it's only the QT versions. Non-QT versions run just fine.

I have no idea if this will work but it may be worth a try. Have to tried installing the various versions of the Microsoft runtime libraries? Perhaps there is some dependency issue in Qt when running on XP that is not being handled in the runtime libs provided by Fab. Try installing ALL of the following packages and reboot before starting Fab again.

Yeah, really good idea and maybe make sure that your XP boxes have all current updates.

          I disagree vehemently.

XP was (and still is, in most cases) the most stable version of Windoze ever released by Micro$oft!!!

I hear you. This may be true but it doesn't change the fact that it is dated, support is somewhat limited and its end is near. XP and 7 are the only versions of Windows that have worked well for me. The fact that Windows 7 also supports running XP from within a virtual environment is even more reason to upgrade.

I do get the updates as soon as they come out but I generally wait a few days to see what problems arise from them on the message boards. MS has burned me in the past with updates that mess up something else. lol!!

I really like XP and I still do. I'm growing more fond of Window 7 every day but I wish MS would stop hiding things and stop fixing things that don't need fixing, just fix the things that do!!

You should see Windows 8, that might be the time for me to get away from Vista.

I've read up on some of it but from what I understand it's really just helpful for tablets and touch screens. I'm sure there will be more to come and I do await it's release. Now Vista, on the other hand, I'm glad I did't take the plung. The service packs did improve it a lot but I'm still glad I didn't jump.

RClark, I did try the Visual C++ runtimes and rebooted after each one as you suggested but it's still a no go on all 3 XP rigs. Thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

The runtime for Visual C++ 2010 (after installing) Windows update notified me that there was an update for it. I installed and and rebooted the system as well but it was still a no go.

You have 3 identical builds and the QT versions won’t run on any of them wouldn’t you conclude that it is a hardware issue? If the W7 build is identical to the three XP builds then it is hardware+XP. I just installed 8.0.9.2 QT on my XP system and it’s both hunky and dory.

I think this thread has gotten too long to be of much help to the developers or other users, so if you have a new problem with a Qt version of DVDFab please start a new thread. I will not close this one to allow continued discussion here, but don't post new problems in this thread.

Maybe so but I do not think that is the case. More people are having pretty much the same issue as I am having and only with QT. I'm sure it will get resolved in future updates.
